Tomorrow, April 22nd is Earth Day, a day of celebrating our gorgeous planet and acknowledging what needs to be done to save it. It’s a day of advocacy for our environment and hopefully a day of planning for a bright and greener future. Here are some events to check out in Vancouver if you want to join in on the celebrations, or get involved:

  1. If you are looking to make a statement, all across Canada and around the world, people are set to march and speak up for science and its importance in our lives at the March for Science Vancouver. It all starts tomorrow at 10am at Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza and ends at Creekside Park (near Science World) around 2pm.
  2. Exclusivity your thing? Then Science World After Dark: Earth Day Edition will be right up your alley with its after dark behind the scenes tour of Science Park and a sneak peek screening of the film “A Beautiful Planet”. Also they have chickens, who doesn’t love chickens?

    Friday, April 21
    7pm–10pm at Science World

  3. If you have a sweet tooth and a soft spot for food security then the Zero Waste Market Earth Day Pop Up at Earnest Ice Cream is sure to curb your cravings! $1 from each Earnest Ice Cream container returned or purchased for the pop up, and $1 from every Zero Waste Market upcycled jar purchased will be donated to Society Promoting Environmental Conservation. A portion of sales from every scoop sold of the flavour “Honey & Chamomile” will be donated to Hives For Humanity. You can learn all about Zero Waste Market in our On Purpose interview with its creator, Brianne Miller. From 12pm- 6pm at both Earnest locations.
  4. On the hunt for some good family fun? Then be sure to grab the kiddos and head down to the Commercial Dr. Earth Day Parade for a celebration of climate action put on by Youth For Climate Justice. The parade begins at Commercial and Broadway at 1pm and continues at Grandview Park from 2pm- 5pm.
  5. If you need a backup plan in case of the oh so familiar and consistent Vancouver rain, then the Rio Theatre Earth Day Screening of “Tomorrow”, a french doc on climate change would be good to keep in mind. Saturday, April 22 Doors 3pm, Movie 3:30pm Tickets $10 advance or $12 at the door.
