This year marks the 149th anniversary of Canada’s confederation. While each neighbourhood has its own way of celebrating Canada Day, they all share a common theme: honouring the diversity and uniqueness of our country. 

The history of this nation and diversity of its people is something that binds us together, and Chimp is all about bringing individuals together and cultivating a sense of community. Canada Day at Canada Place

What better way to celebrate the nation’s anniversary than in the most iconic building in Vancouver. Canada Day at Canada Place offers an array of activities for families, including street hockey, food carts, and extreme pogo stick races! The event ends with a parade along the downtown core and a Canada Day fireworks display.

When: 10AM-6PM (fireworks display at 10PM)

Canada Day on Granville Island

Granville Island is also hosting festivities throughout their beautiful community. From glass blowing demonstrations and crafting stations, to an afternoon filled with jazz music to keep you entertained, Canada Day on Granville Island offers a cornucopia of events that celebrate culture and art.

North Vancouver Canada Day Celebrations

The North Vancouver Canada Day Celebrations are filled with family-friendly activities and events. This festival is one-of-a-kind as it’s the first zero-waste event in the Lower Mainland. With the help of Green Chair Recycling, this event has the potential to divert over 100 kg of waste from the landfill.

Canada Day at the Steveston Salmon Festival

The Steveston Salmon Festival is jam-packed with entertainment, starting with a pancake breakfast, Japanese culture show, and a children and youth festival.

The main attraction of this festival, however, is the 1,200 pounds of wild salmon filets, grilled over open fire pits. Don’t let this impressive amount of fish fool you – vendors usually sell out before lunchtime, so make sure to head down early!

Surrey Canada Day Celebration

The Surrey Canada Day celebration takes place at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre. Along with a variety of cultural events and carnival-style rides, it also offers great live music, with this year’s headline entertainment including Tom Cochrane with Red Rider.
