Charitable Impact

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to share the story of LGBTQ activist and refugee, Danny Ramadan. His incredible journey from Syria to Vancouver is available in part one and part two of our On Purpose series.

Although he faced challenges coming to Canada, his poignant story inspired many Canadians to address the issue by supporting groups that contribute to refugee relief efforts or even sponsor refugees themselves.

Since his arrival in Canada, Danny has been supporting several groups as they sponsor LGBTQ refugees from his birthplace of Syria. Danny’s work has led to him being named Grand Marshal in this year’s Vancouver Pride Parade.

Danny’s recent successes serve as a springboard for his upcoming event: An Evening in Damascus. This vibrant night will feature local bands, an auction of Syrian artwork, and storytelling from the Middle East. Aside from a night filled with entertainment, it’s also a fundraiser to sponsor a lesbian Syrian couple to come to Canada.

This event will be held at the prestigious Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden on July 23, 2016 at 7PM.

If you’re in the Vancouver area, make sure to check out this fun-filled night!

We are thrilled to have Danny as a part of our Chimp Community. His contribution to LGBTQ and Syrian groups in Vancouver is a true inspiration and a great example of how an individual can pay it forward.
