Food bank donation

Have you heard that September is Hunger Action Month? This nationwide campaign is intended to raise awareness on the hunger crisis and encourage people to take action to help those in need. If you’d like to get involved, why not make a donation to one of the great food bank organizations across Canada that work tirelessly to support those living with food insecurity?

We have been having a look through Food Bank charities rated four stars by Charity Intelligence. Here are some that are listed on Charitable Impact and are creating a real impact:

Food Banks Canada

Food Banks Canada is a national organization dedicated to helping Canadians living with hunger. They support a network of 10 Provincial Associations and more than 500 food banks. As well as helping food banks meet the current need of food insecurities across Canada, they are also finding ways to reduce hunger in the future by influencing policy through research and awareness campaigns.

Food for Life Canada

Food for Life assists in filling the gap between social assistance and living costs by providing nutritious perishable food to families. They are able to divert approximately 2 million pounds of food annually from landfills and direct it to more than 24,000 client visits each month.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank

The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a partnership of Canadian churches and church-based agencies working to end hunger in developing countries. Their programs include funding programs to improve nutrition, assisting communities to feed themselves and advocating for necessary policy changes to end hunger.

Daily Bread Food Bank

Daily Bread Food Bank are on a mission to alleviate hunger and fight the underlying poverty that causes it. They approach this in many ways, including collecting and distributing food, research on poverty and education, advocating for improved government policies, as well as serving over 3,500 meals a week from their industrial kitchen to Toronto’s meal programs.

You can support all of these organizations by making a donation through your Impact Account, or get involved on social media with #HungerActionMonth and help raise awareness!
