Let’s Talk Mental Health National Video Conference and Campaign
People have a tendency to take for granted the things that matter most. Help us then, as we work to promote the importance of mental health across the country.
Greetings and Salutations,
According to the Mental Health Commission of Canada, 14-25% of Canadian children and youth suffer mental health issues; most will not receive treatment. Fortunately, there is growing recognition of the importance of mental health. TakingITGlobal, in partnership with CHIMP, The Canadian Education Forum and The Centre for Global Education is mobilizing schools across Canada to promote the importance of mental health in the Let’s Talk Mental Health National Video Conference and Campaign.
The campaign runs from March 25th to May 28th, 2014. It provides students with the opportunity to use their ingenuity, and creativity to support a mental health charity all while connecting with issues surrounding mental health.
Not only will classrooms be empowered to select their own mental health charity and means of supporting it, they will also see their fundraising efforts doubled through a generous program by CHIMP. In addition to $1000 in matching donations, CHIMP will also give classes $125 just for creating a classroom Giving Group and an additional $125 for positing a video of a fundraising effort (up to three videos). There’s a total of $15,000 just waiting to be put to good use.
At the end of May, participating classes will have the opportunity to take part in the 2nd online video conference and share the successes and lessons learned from the project.
