The ACC is the only national non-profit organization that informs, educates and provides Canadians with resources about adoption and permanency issues in Canada. The ACC promotes the placement of waiting children and youth and stress the importance of post-adoption support. Services also include adoption resources, referral, education and support for adoptees and birth and adoptive families. Ongoing programs: Canada's Waiting Children: national photo listing service of children and youth currently in care of child welfare agencies across Canada who are waiting for permanent adoptive families, 2)Youth Speak Out: bringing youth who have been adopted, are still in care, or have aged out of provincial care together to "speak" out about the need for permanency and the impact of living in foster care or aging out of the system without a family, 3)Aging Out Without A Safety Net: Addressing the Economic Insecurity of Young Women in Foster care, 4) Journey Home: a guided bus tour that takes participants through a day in the life of a child/youth in care to raise awareness about the need to find permanent families before they age out into homelessness, encounters with justice, etc. 5) Digital Storytelling: brings together youth in and from care and youth learn how to edit, film, and put together films based on their life stories.
