Aunt Leah's Independent Lifeskills Society

charity logo

For three decades, Aunt Leah’s Place (ALP) has helped prevent children in foster care from becoming homeless, and mothers in need from losing custody of their children throughout Metro Vancouver. Aunt Leah’s Place supports them on their journey to adulthood and self-sufficiency by providing supported housing, coaching on essential life skills, educational guidance and employment training. Aunt Leah’s Place works proactively at the ‘entry’ and ‘exit ‘points of the foster care system. At the entry point, Aunt Leah’s Place helps prevent low-income families from losing custody of their children by providing housing and supports to pregnant and parenting moms. At the exit point, Aunt Leah’s works with foster youth readying to ‘age out’ of the system, by giving supports similar to what parents give their own children transitioning to adulthood, focusing on core areas that aid in the transition to self-sufficiency such as housing, life skills and education.
