Food Stash Foundation

charity logo

Food Stash Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that rescues food otherwise destined for the landfill and redirects it to those in need, both individuals and charities, throughout the Vancouver area. Our mission is twofold; to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and bridge the food insecurity gap that exists within our community. The food we pick up would have otherwise been wasted for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: imperfect produce, best before date reached, day-old grain products, and items that are not selling fast enough. Since starting in September 2016 we have grown to recover an average of 12 000 lbs of food a month and are now partnered with 18 suppliers and deliver to 12 charities and 48 families. While delivering food, we also hope to build a greater understanding of how our food choices impact the environment and our health, including education around the nutrition content of the food we deliver and the benefits of using local, seasonal, and organic food whenever possible.
