Habitat for Humanity Edmonton mobilizes volunteers and community partners to help low income families achieve strength, stability, and independence through affordable home ownership. We build simple, decent homes using donations of financial support, building materials, and through the power of volunteers. Our families invest 500 hours of "sweat equity" to build their homes and those of their neighbours. They pay an interest-free mortgage with payments that never exceed 25 percent of their income. Habitat for Humanity helps forge a new path for families that helps them succeed. Studies have proven that children in Habitat homes are more likely to go on to higher education, and that families' volunteerism in the community substantially increases.
