Emergency Food Box Program (Choice Room) - This is our main program and it provides opportunity for people to access food in a time of emergency. We provide up to 200 pounds of food for a family in need. We are one of the only food banks in Alberta that offers meat and fresh vegetables to our clients and this is something that we are very proud of. United Way Healthy Bundles - this program allows expecting moms to access the food bank on a more regular basis for extra mile, eggs and protein. After the Baby is born, moms can continue to access more often until the baby is 1 year old. In addition to milk, eggs and protein, they would have access to diapers and formula as needed. Brown Bag Lunch Program - the food bank is serving 500-700 lunches to hungry children within 32 schools in Medicine Hat and surrounding area every school day. Each child receives: a pea butter and jelly or meat and cheese sandwich (or tuna kit in rural areas) as well as fruit, fresh vegetables and a snack. Food First Program - this project addresses poverty with innovation and long-term solutions to a generational problem affecting families in our communities.
