The Nature Conservancy Of Canada - La Societe Canadienne Pour La Conservation De La Nature
Other Names: Conservation De La Nature Canada
The Nature Conservancy (NCC) is a national non-profit conservation organization that takes a business-like approach to protecting Canada's natural heritage. Our singular focus is on conserving ecologically significant land and the plants and animals it sustains. NCC acquires the land through donations, purchase or through conservation agreements (easements) with landowners. Once the land is secured, NCC ensures it is cared for and managed for the long-term. In addition, NCC operates national Conservation Volunteer and Conservation Internship programs. We are building a natural legacy for all Canadians. NCC creates partnerships with individuals, corporations, community groups, foundations and government agencies to create conservation solutions. Since 1962 NCC has worked with Canadians to help protect more than 2.6 million acres (1 million hectares). In the past fiscal year (2011-2012) NCC and its supporters have helped to conserve 429, 742 acres (173,910 hectares) at 124 project sites.
