After serving in Vancouver's DTES for more than a decade with The Salvation Army 614 Vancouver, Carla and Jonathan were commissioned to begin a new expression of church to see God's boundless love heal Vancouver. We asked, why does the DTES exist and what can we do to help people from encountering the generational addiction, poverty and relational brokenness that leads to 'skid row.' Just upstream from the DTES is Mt. Pleasant. In this neighbourhood God is forming a community to intervene in the lives of women, children and families alongside other Salvation Army ministries such as Vancouver Community & Family Services, the Thrift Store, Esther's Place, Kate Booth House and new housing and recovery ministries that are in development. Through holistic and integrated mission Boundless Vancouver comes face to face with the Deep Life and Wide Love of God. Mission: To make followers of Jesus who share his boundless love with Vancouver. Vision: To discover and display the heart of God behind The Salvation Army shield. Identity: God's boundless love is creating a new extended family to share Jesus' extravagant love! Personality: Boundless relationships that are diverse and respectful. We love authentic community and intentional outreach. Boundless transformation is tenacious and gracious. We challenge the status quo and endure patiently. Objectives: Surrender to God's Boundless Love, Generosity towards God by living open handedly in a tight world. Mission to the last, the lost, and the least by partnering in God's transforming power.
