"To foster literacy and a love of reading among young people in Alberta by providing access to the province's literary artists and their work." Our programs: 1) Taleblazers: a month-long provincial literary festival for children held in schools & libraries. 2) Story Avenue: 2 days of writing workshops for inner-city grade 5-7 students. 3) Dr.Charles Allard Win-an-artist Contest: Sponsored 10 in-school author visits. 4) Martyn Godfrey Award: A juried writing competition for grades 4-9. 5) The Alberta Collection: Maintain a lendable collection of Alberta Children's books for use in schools. 6) Wordpower: Two completely sponsored one-week-long tours of 8 literary artists through rural regions in Alberta.
