Since 2008, more than $79 million has been given using Chimp. The foundation has distributed gifts to over 4350 Canadian charities.

Chimp Foundation manages the money deposited to Chimp accounts and given through Chimp. The foundation ensures your gift gets to the charity you chose.

The Charitable Impact Foundation is a registered charity — or more specifically, a public foundation. That’s why you receive a tax receipt issued by Chimp: Charitable Impact Foundation (Canada) whenever you add money to your Chimp account, or if you make a donation via a giving group or charity page.

Our Foundation and Accountability

Our financial records and activities are publicly accessible and you can find us on the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) website. Our business/registration number with the CRA is 845528827RR0001.

We work with several of Canada’s top law and accounting firms to ensure that we maintain our books and records in accord with the law. The firm of Bull, Housser & Tupper serve as the records office for Chimp: Charitable Impact Foundation (Canada). They are responsible for all filings and compliance-related advice. Our financial statements and records are audited every year by Deloitte.

Michael Cahén


Michael Cahén has extensive experience in investment banking, e-commerce, information technology, international trading and asset management, and as a director on charitable, listed and for-profit boards.

Christopher Richardson


Christopher Richardson is an accountant who specializes in charitable and non-profit organizations. He’s a leader in gift planning in Canada, according to the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and frequently speaks at conferences about gift planning, compliance and structure.

Why I’m excited about Chimp: I believe that Chimp can shape the giving culture in Canada more than anything I’ve seen to date. Don Simpson

Don has lived and worked in over 70 countries, and specializes in mentoring leaders to unleash innovations. He has worked at all levels of the educational sector and pioneered the idea of international education in Canadian universities. Don now leads the Innovation Expedition, an organization working to connect and support global innovators.
