Ever since I was 5 riding my BMX along side my Dad when he trained for a marathon it's been bucket lister of my own. In doing so, I want to raise awareness for 2 causes that impact people near & dear to me; PKU (Phenylketonuria) which my daughter Luka has and MS which impacts my sister Melissa.

As some of you know I just squeaked in under the 2016 Boston qualifying time at the Edmonton Marathon last August with a 3:07:06. My BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is to try and cross the line in under 3 hours at Boston this April 18th.
Aside of my personal running goals, the other aspect of this journey is to help raise awareness and resources for MS and PKU, which affect my sister and daughter.
PKU is a rare, metabolic disease that results in developmental disability and other neurological problems when treatment is not started within the first few weeks of life. Fortunately we were informed Luka has PKU within a week of being born, so we are able to treat her disorder via a strict diet. Canadian PKU & Allied Disorders Inc does a fantastic job in creating awareness and advocacy to ensure the programs and treatments are in place for those with PKU to live healthy, normal lives.
The Gawler Foundation offers health retreats & support services for CANCER, MS and chronic illness. This includes wellbeing retreats to help patients to be healthier, happier and live their best life. When my sister was diagnosed with MS she tried a few retreats and the Gawler Foundation was a stand out for her. She would love to see others have the opportunity to attend Gawler also.
