The Group's Purpose
A campaign to support literacy through Under the Reading Tree, a charity that builds community libraries and offers literacy and educational programs.
This campaign was birthed out of my love of reading. Summer is a great time to discover new books, and I’d love to recommend some of my favourites to you. Best of all, every dollar you give will be matched dollar for dollar up to $1500. So if we raise $1500 through individual donations, that number will double to $3000 and cover the annual budget for a library!
About Under the Reading Tree
Under the Reading Tree is a small Vancouver-based charity that works primarily in East Africa, specifically in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their mission is to promote literacy and education in developing countries through the establishment of grassroots community libraries and literacy programs.
If you would like to receive reading recommendations with your donation, please share a short list of about five books you’ve really loved. You can either do so by leaving a note on the group wall (sharing your own recommendations with everyone!) or sending them privately to email@example.com. This will help me curate my recommendations to books in a similar genre or style. If you have given $100, please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) your address so that I can mail you my top recommendation.

How to Help
How it Works
If you love reading, this is the campaign for you.
1. For every $25 you give, one of the libraries will receive a new book, and I’ll personally send you a book recommendation.
2. If you give $50, you’ll cover half a month’s rent for one of the libraries, and I’ll personally send you five book recommendations.
3. Better yet, if you give $100, you’ll cover a full month’s rent and I’ll not only send you five book recommendations, I’ll send you a physical copy of my top pick in the mail.
About the Organizers
Joel Bentley - I am above all else an avid reader. I'm the kind of person that goes to the bookstore just to browse. I love reading and am excited to share my recommendations with you. I promise I won't pick anything too high-falutin.
