Team Awareness: North Shore Street Soccer Teams

We are Team Awareness and we are committed to playing better soccer and by doing so hope to raise money to ensure our team's future. We work hard to learn to play better, to support each other and our community. That makes a big difference. To us. To the world.

The Group's Purpose

Concept: play better technical soccer = cash rewards for our causes. More passes. Strong fundamental skills. Great attitude. Focus. Showing up. The better we play the more we earn and the more we learn. (Team skills and team support, not just winning).

How to Help

We invite supporters follow our teams progress to Play Better this season. Feel free to reward our team when we achieve our developmental goals. It is as easy as a clicking the mouse and giving a small reward to the team’s cause.

For example, If our players show up on time and are ready to play then reward us. Also, if players on our team complete some tricky moves during practice or games reward us too.

We encourage participation and most importantly to have fun. The ultimate goals is to have fun and keep our players in the sport and use the language of soccer to bring people together for a good cause!

About the Organizers

For 13 years, Team Awareness has called North Vancouver home and has competed in and hosted tournaments as a co-ed team. Through our alliance with Street Soccer Canada and the Homeless World Cup we have sent players to represent Canada at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Homeless World Cups.

The Street Soccer Canada family is now a thriving network of programs in a dozen cities across Canada. In 2015, we were honoured to be invited to play against teams from Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in Hamilton’s tournament held in conjunction with the Pan Am games in Ontario in July.

That tournament inspired us to start a women’s street soccer team. Soccer provides a place for connection, team work and self esteem for every player. Our goal is to provide that place for women to play and connect, and just kick the ball around on the North Shore. Ultimately, we’d like to see a strong network of women’s teams across the nation and a Street Soccer Women’s team to represent Canada at the Homeless World Cup alongside the Men’s team.

Supporting our teams allows us to host and travel to other Street Soccer tournaments, send players to soccer and coaching clinics and help spread the word of the healing power of team sports in connecting people back to their community.

In 2016, we aim to send a co-ed team to a international street soccer tournament at Times Square, New York City this July and to host the first ever Harry Mansons' CANADA'S WOMENS INTERNATIONAL STREET SOCCER Tournament here in North Vancouver June 25 & 26.
