In the summertime, when the weather gets hot, so too do the charitable fundraisers — warming the body and heart in support of meaningful causes.

We’ve got some seriously hot challenges happening this month for some very cool causes. Check them out and get involved!

ACTS Walk for Water – June 6

ACTS

We tend to take clean water for granted in North America. But ACTS knows that around the world, in places like Uganda, water is a precious commodity. Consider that the average Ugandan has to walk 6 kms per day to fetch water that may be filled with parasites and harmful bacteria.

ACTS’ Walk for Water fundraiser challenges Vancouverites to walk in solidarity with Ugandans by carrying a 40-lb jerry can of water for 6 km while raising money to help build clean water systems in Uganda. Get involved!

Tech’s Got Talent – June 24

TechGotTalent

Music lovers, lend your ears to Tech’s Got Talent. This lip synching competition will see 20 Vancouver tech companies battle for synchronized supremacy, all in support of Vancouver youth development charities.

The event takes place at 6:30 pm at the Five Sixty, with the goal of raising $50,000 for charities that empower youth to reach their full potential. Tickets are available for $10. Get your ticket!

DreamRiders – throughout June

DreamRiders

This month, a father and his two teenage sons will ride over 4,400 kms along the legendary Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (from Banff, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico) in an effort to transform the lives of impoverished children in Malawi.

With a goal of raising $200,000 for homes and education, and already more than a quarter of the way there, the trio will attempt to climb nearly 70 vertical kms over the Rocky Mountains. That’s the equivalent of ascending Mount Everest from sea level seven times. It’s truly a gruelling bike race for a great cause. Help them reach their goal!
